SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 16, 2008 – Simplot Grower Solutions in Lodi has been named among 19 honorees as one of this year’s recipients of the prestigious Environmental Respect Award, according to the California trade group Western Plant Health Association.
The supply retail business, which is a member of the WPHA, is located at 2851 W. Harney Lane in Lodi. “This feels great,” said Simplot Operations Manager Steve Woods, upon learning of the news on Friday. “It’s nice to know that we are helping out in keeping the environment safe.”
The Environmental Respect Awards are the agricultural industry’s highest recognition for environmental stewardship among U.S. agricultural retailers, those who serve farmers and ranchers with the nutrients, pest control and agronomic information critical to effective cropproduction.
Each year a panel of industry experts selects a group of agricultural retail businesses in the United States that have excelled in environmental stewardship, professional excellence and community involvement. Simplot Grower Solutions in Lodi was the only winner from California. The selection committee considers such things as excellence in site design, in-plant storage and handling procedures, emergency preparedness and response, proper application and
leadership in safety and stewardship among customers and employees.
The award winners were selected May 8 in Willoughby, Ohio, and the names were released today during a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The annual awards is spearheaded by DuPont Crop Protection and is managed and conducted by CropLife magazine and Farm Chemicals International magazine.
